Goodbye

To everything there is a season
A time to be born and a time to die
-Ecclesiastes 3:1-

Have you ever thought how short life is?
I wonder, what would it be when the time comes... Not "after" the time comes, coz there's lots of controversy around it. but "when" the time comes...

Will I have been happy with what I do? Will I have traveled around the world?
Will I have given my best in life? Will I have been an inspiration to someone?
Will I have loved other as much? Will I have smiled enough to enough people?
Will I have said to people around me how important they are?
How many people will actually come to my funeral and cry?

This shortness of life, made me realized how I should cherish every moment. How I should give thanks to every little things I took for granted.

Thank you for reminding this, and... goodbye..... friend..

UPDATESS!!

*dodging all the plates, glasses, forks, spoons, knives flying about

yay, i'm back! guess my last post is like.. last year? haha
i guess this blog is getting moldy :P

anywayyy

i need to keep myself focused this acad year! lots of things happened, happening, and going to happen (i guess)
both for my study part of life, my ECA part of life, and my social life (if i still have some) with all new commitments.

it's week 5 of school nowww!! and i still don't have the mood of studying. partially because of the indonesian FOC i guess. my best FOC so far (being a maincomm). althought the memories didn't come from the FOC-days itself, but mostly from the preparation step. love all the maincomms, and all my subcomms.
it's time to move on from FOC....

so here comes the school part! 25 AUs this semester!! the most i've taken ever since i came to NTU.. amazing uh? and 1 subject is really killing me... homework for every week: summarizing the textbook! yayyy!! and the design project is really unappealing also... also, my friend asked me to join BPC... i hope i can survive after this sem..

i chose the companies for my IA next sem. exxonmobil was my first choice, followed by philips, sunningdale tech, polyone, and ciba vision. hope i'll get my first choice tho... hufff... let's see when they'll call me for interview...

anddddd... ECA part... this is the one going to kill me soon i guess. so.. i've taken a great step.. and this will be the hardest committee i've ever been.. and i still don't know what to do with NTU choir, whether i should quit. indochoir is active now, since ICN is near. and another thing which i'll try to settle..

SOO... considering so many things happening this semester (and next semester)...

pray for me!!!!!! hope i'll survive...

I Will Be Here

Tomorrow morning if you wake
up and the sun does not appear
I will be here
If in the dark, we lose sight of love
Hold my hand, and have no fear
'Cause I will be here

I will be here
When you feel like being quiet
When you need to speak your mind
I will listen
And I will be here
When the laughter turns to cryin'
Through the winning, losing and trying
We'll be together
I will be here

Tomorrow morning, if you wake up
And the future is unclear
I will be here
Just as sure as seasons were made for change
Our lifetimes were made for these years
So I will be here

I will be here
And you can cry on my shoulder
When the mirror tells us we're older
I will hold you
And I will be here
To watch you grow in beauty
And tell you all the things you are to me
I will be here

I will be true to the promise I have made
To you and to the One who gave you to me

Tomorrow morning, if you wake up
And the sun does not appear
I will be here
Oh, I will be here

(Steven Curtis Chapman - I will be here)

I got this song a long time ago, never really listened to it. 2 days ago, when I had nothing to do, just browse along my 10GB-worth of music folder.
this song's tune is not the thing that drives me crazy (although it's part of it), but it's the lyrics.
what a love song... wish i had a person that thinks that way towards me.
I attached it in this blog, so let the music buffers, and listen to the tune.

A Chance

Teach us to make us of the time we have.
Teach us to be patient even as we wait.
Teach us to embrace our every joy and pain.
To sleep peacefully, and to rise up strong.

(Janet Sullivan Whitaker - In Every Age)

I personally loved this song ever since the first time I heard it. Partly because of the tune, but most is from the lyrics.

Isn't it just what every people need? Patience, perseverance, acceptance, and a good night sleep.

It's interesting how God never give us what we asked directly.
We asked for patience, He never gives it.
We asked for perseverance, He never gives it.
We asked for acceptance, He never gives it.

He never gives us courage, but chance to be courageous at times we are afraid.
He never gives us forgiving heart, but chance to forgive those who wronged us.
He never gives us patience, but chance to be patient to wait.
He never gives us perseverance, but chance to persevere at troubles.
He never gives us acceptance, but gives us chance to accept things we have.
He never gives us friends, but gives us a chance to be a friend.

Maybe sometimes we wondered, why He didn't give us the thing we needed, instead, he gives us the raw material. I think, it's to make us abundance in things that we asked Him.
Imagine, if we asked for one fish, and if He gives us one fish, we'll end up with just one fish.
But if He gives us a fishing rod, we possibly ends up with thousands of fish.

Now that He already gives us the chance, can we take it? And after we took it, can we keep it?

Maybe the Lord bless you and keep you.

Accept me!

this particular title is kinda confusing, rite? it's not that i'm confessing love and asking someone to accept it or something..

it's just, a general expression of acceptance...

last night i went to celebrate sept's birthday, and he said this very interesting line. "terimalah aku apa adanya, bukan ada apanya"

hmm.. how to translate this to english.. "accept me whatever I am, not whatever I have"

the time i heard this line, it was just like... whoah..
are we able to accept people whatever they are? can we just forget about all the external things? wealth, race, religion, status.... it's all just an additional stuff to the purity of heart that a person have.

when every people is able to accept whatever other people are, not of whatever they have, surely this world will be such a better place, don't you think?

A Child's Mind

People said, the older you are, the wiser you are, and the more opened your eyes would be..

Is it true? Try reading this story I heard from my HRM (Human Resource Management) teacher..

A kindergarten teacher asked a question to her class. She said: "What's the biggest thing in this world?"

A boy said: "My daddy! It's the biggest thing in the world! He can carry me, hug me, put me around his arm!"

Another boy said: "Silly boy. It's an elephant! It's much bigger than your father!"

Then, a girl answered: "The biggest thing in the world is a mountain! It can contain hundreds or thousands of elephants!"

All of a sudden, an usually quiet girl raised her arm and said: "It's my eyes! No matter how big an elephant is, or a mountain is, I can see it all from my eyes! My eyes have to be the biggest thing in the world!"

Have you ever thought of such an answer? Maybe our eyes are not the biggest thing in the world. But, have you ever thought, how great our eyes are, to be able to see all the bigger things in the world? (well, of course physics applies here.. but.. ignore it for a sec please?)

But then, are our eyes the biggest thing in the world? Maybe if we think about it, the answer is no. I think it's our brain, that is bigger. A better memory than any computer in the world. Much faster processing speed. And of course, a better casing (ourselves).

Now, a question is asked to you all. Is it true that the older you are, the more your eyes are opened?

The Beggar's Party!

It's a Party! It's Beggar's! It's The Beggar's Party!

the catholic community in my campus (CSA a.k.a. Catholic Students Apostolate) is holding a musical! The theme? come on... if u haven't got it yet, u need to take a gun and shoot urself.. The Beggar's Party!
It's free.. It's fun.. It's on 25th August!
and hell.. i'm gonna perform there.. it's gonna be crazy.. i need to practice really hard to meet with the expectations.. and it ain't low...
script memorizing in progress.. movement memorizing and generating in progress.. songs to memorize.. sheeeshh..
really hope this event will turn up to be a success.. so many passion are being poured in it!

wad's it about, u ask? well, can't really tell, or it won't be fun, rite?
wad character I am? well... i'll tell u AFTER the musical.. haha.. it's gonna be stupid.. *hint hint*
for those staying at singapore!!! DO COME!! it's free anyway... u can meet me also.. hahaha (as if it's THAT important)

So Bored...

I always forgotten, how boring a lecture in NTU is. the professor keeps on talking.. we didn't pay a single damn attention.. (well, at least it's me)
feeling so sleepy and bored...
currently at class now..
anyway, a few updates on hundreds and one stuffs that happened this few weeks..

1. Indoseminar!!
the first indonesian event of the year! we met lots of new freshies! yay! too bad.. the ratio of guys:girls this year is about... say... 4:1? really not a good number...

2. Indosupper!!
the next event! eating together! lots of foods and performances and games! too bad we had to pay for the food. haha. the game was kinda... sexy... haha
del'dante performed really well there! high five for you della!
the indochoir also performed 2 songs there. well, kinda ok.. but i was sick that time.. so, can't really enjoy the events..

3. School starts......
This suck.. really suck.. the printer at library broke down, i can't print the notes, so i went to lecture without any notes on my hands... which is even worse than me sleeping...

4. GTD9 - Ekastha Sakhya!
Now THIS.. is the main event of freshmen orientation.. it's Get Together Day! no.. no Get To Get Her Day though (too bad..)
the opening ceremony was awesome.. gives me shivers, although Dhana screwed up his dance by dropping his bandana.. hahhaa
the portfolio performance, OG performance(which kinda iugh), and the outdoor games on first day.. night games, outing games, and sport games on the next 3 days.
Really sad that in this week, i was badly sick.. can't really show my 'real self' those days.. hahaha
really sorry for komang and tika, i can't really participate well there. huuuu..

5. School continues...
No need to say a thing..i'm in lecture theatre, supposed to listen to the lecturer, and I'm here, behind my laptop, writing blogs... hahahaha.. (this is special for JJ, who always looks forward to my update, which doesn't happen really often lately, due to the business i have..

hm.. wait.. did i forget anything??...

oh yeah.. crap..

6. recruitment fair..
currently, NTU is having ECA recruitment fair! and I have no choice but to man the NTU choir booth.. so tired! i haven't even take a break after GTD, and this stupid fair is starting... well, i hope this hard work pays off... yesterday, 60+ people signed up.. i hope another 60 signs up today.. haha

anyway, i'd better start listening to the lecturer... thermodynamics is not really my strength anyway.. hahaha

i'll attach the photos later when i found them...

A Year..

Whew, sorry for not updating for so long.. The internet connection in my hometown is rather lousy, not to mention expensive.. so, I'd rather wait until I'm back at singapore.

had a great time back there in my hometown. meeting lots of old friends.. really brings back lots of good memories. too bad, didn't meet quite often with them... (cemul, RbT, i'm referring to u!)

anyway, it's quite frightening how time really flies.. at my birthday, i feel that it was just like last month when those crazy people came to my house at midnight, bringing those super-spicy-instant-noodle and a cake.. not really surprised at that time, but really flattered.
this year's birthday was just fine. friends dropping sms, giving friendster messages as well as comments. quite nice.. but i somehow missed my friends coming to my house and throwing a 'little party' for me.. haha (refer to the pics attached below)

well, that's not the thing i wanna highlight.. i really feel a year passed so fast. the question is, have i used this whole year well? what did i achieve this year? am i spending too much time playing and doing stupid stuffs? really need to spend some time reflecting..

anyway, juz wanna say "welcome to university life" for those freshmen! hope u guys really work hard and play hard at your campus. good luck for your future dude! GBU always

St Anthony's Feast Day

Cake??!!! Mine? no no! it's meant for a lot of people... today, 13th of June, is a feast day of St.Anthony of Padua. MY SAINT! haha! I never realized the real meaning of this name till recently. never knew such a name was so great and noble in the past. (geez, i'm carrying such a burden)
known as the restorer of lost things, the doctor of church, the father to the poor, zealous for justice, and defender of innocence. Also as liberator of prisoner, guide of pilgrims, example of humility, comforter of those in distress, and lover of the cross... (see? i told you I'm carrying such burden)

I went to (again) St.Mary of the angels church. people brought lilies along with them. the atmosphere pre-mass was AMAZING! dimmed lights, voice of water, scents of lilies, it was just so thrilling...
after mass, there's a devotion to St.Anthony, and we walked around the columbarium (the place where ashes were kept), bringing candles and lilies, while prayers and petitions are chanted.
I really wanted to buy the lily, but I'm going back home tomorrow, so i can't buy it and leave it just like that, rite?
then, after that, we had a mega-dinner together. it's really like a feast day! spaghetti, roti john, roast meat (dunno what meat... don't have the chance to take some), prawn noodles, and stuffs the congregation brought to share.
I was queuing for spaghetti when the friar asked whether there is anyone named Anthony and its derivatives (Antonio, Antonella, Antoinette, if you understand what i mean). we were asked to gather at the middle, near a huge cake (I mean, HUGE), and we celebrated our saint's feast day together! after we cut the cake, i went to queue again for the spaghetti, intending to use the plate to take the cake.. but, geez, the cake is finished by the time i got there.. so saddd...

didn't know why back there in Indonesia, we didn't celebrate Feast day.. it's really fun and nice.. really happy back there.

Grateful

I dunno why, but suddenly, I feel grateful for lots of things (which answers my last post..haha)
I know it's very hard to be satisfied, but yet, I feel grateful for a lot of things that I took for granted... grades, halls, but yet, the most important thing is... friends, which are like my own family here...
really can't imagine living in NTU, without any friends that i know now... life will be even suck-er than now... If I think about friendship, I remember this very beautiful story.. maybe it's a bit old, but it really reminds me to really open myself.. and the story begins...

One day a young man was standing in the middle
of the town proclaiming that he had the most
beautiful heart in the whole valley. A large
crowd gathered and they all admired his heart
for it was perfect.
There was not a mark or a flaw in it.
Yes, they all agreed it truly was the most
beautiful heart they had ever seen.
The young man was very proud and boasted
more loudly about his beautiful heart.
Suddenly, an old man appeared at the front of
the crowd and said, "Why your heart is not
nearly as beautiful as mine."

The crowd and the young man looked at the
old man's heart. It was beating strongly,
but full of scars, it had places where pieces
had been removed and other pieces put in, but
they didn't fit quite right and there were
several jagged edges. In fact, in some places
there were deep gouges where whole pieces
were missing.
The people stared -- how can he say his heart
is more beautiful, they thought?
The young man looked at the old man's heart
and saw its state and laughed.

"You must be joking," he said.
"Compare your heart with mine, mine is perfect
and yours is a mess of scars and tears."

"Yes," said the old man, "Yours is perfect
looking but I would never trade with you.
You see, every scar represents a person to
whom I have given my love - I tear out a piece
of my heart and give it to them, and often
they give me a piece of their heart which fits
into the empty place in my heart, but because
the pieces aren't exact, I have some rough edges,
which I cherish, because they remind me of the
love we shared. "Sometimes I have given pieces of my heart
away, and the other person hasn't returned
a piece of his heart to me. These are the
empty gouges -- giving love is taking a chance.

Although these gouges are painful, they stay open,
reminding me of the love I have for these people too,
and I hope someday they may return and fill the
space I have waiting. So now do you see what true beauty is?"
The young man stood silently with tears running
down his cheeks. He walked up to the old man,
reached into his perfect young and beautiful heart,
and ripped a piece out. He offered it to the old
man with trembling hands

The old man took his offering, placed it in his heart
and then took a piece from his old scarred heart and
placed it in the wound in the young man's heart.
It fit, but not perfectly, as there were some jagged edges.
The young man looked at his heart, not perfect
anymore but more beautiful than ever,
since love from the old man's heart flowed into his.
They embraced and walked away side by side.

If we didn't open ourselves, true that we'll not be hurt... but, will our heart be beautiful? we grow stronger through the hardness of friendship..
for my special friend out there.. I hope u read this blog, and think about it... never think that u are sacrificing too much... there's no word 'too much sacrifice' in a friendship..
for my friends in NTU... thanks for being there.. thanks for just being a friend which shares a lot of things.. thanks for being so helpful.. thanks for being a listening ear.. thanks for being a stronghold.. bless u all my friends!

About Giving Thanks

Well well.. been quite a while since my last post!
it's been very tiring special term, lots of projects (well, only 2, but..), project meetings, playing games, working out, etc etc... hufff.. i just wish 6 days will pass soon... wanna go back to hometown, running awayy!!!
but before that, still got exam to do... hope i'll do well on that...

aghh.. TODAY! the results are out! not only last semester's results, but also the hall application result!
i hope i did better on the hall application result than the semester result... my GPA suck!
i'm just praying that my appeal will succeed... that cursed little subject.. agh!
but well, no use to mourn and cry... although i banged my head against the wall a few times.. definitely i'm not satisfied, but.... got no chance!!

it's very easy for us to give thanks when we're happy, have something to be proud of.. but it's so damn hard to do so, when we're sad and in my case, no good result..
i really prayed that i'll be given a prepared heart to accept my result, but hey! after all, i can't accept it... huf.. so i just wish, in the future, i'm able to give thanks on my sadness...
i think i should not look to the top all the time...

I don't get it!

noticed anything weird in that keyboard?
noticed the shiny thing there? guess what it is..

water? no...
reflection? can't be...
answer is... it's a tape.. u know? the thing used to tape things...
why it's there, u ask?
dunno why, suddenly the 't' button jumps out of my laptop-keyboard... my goodness.. i was so shocked.. i can't figure any other way to fix it.. so, i hope this will do until the time i go back jakarta, and fix all the things wrong with my laptop... (stupid wireless, stupid keyboard... ergh!)

it seems i'm having lots of problem today... dunno why... maybe i ran out of my pig-year-luck..
specifically? i'm in a state of don't-wanna-talk-much.. dunno why, maybe this will (or have) started another cold war... argh..
i don't understand another people.. they say man hard to understand woman.. have u ever think, that it's also very hard to understand another man? even a close friend is so hard to understand..
i really don't want to talk...
aghhh... juz wanna be alone!

8 points!

geez, sorry for not updating for so long.... (and i mean.. SO LONG)
well, what to say first?

1. I finished my exams... the 1st and last exams are amazing... amazingly crazy.. but hey, it passed already... i don't care!

2. i took the special semester class! MB103 a.k.a. marketing... oh my... this one really is a pain in the a**.. so boring... imagine a twice-a-week class and 3.5 hours each... my goodness... i can't help myself to close my eyes... the teacher? well, he's nice and thing.. but.. somehow, i like my previous business class tutors better...

3. i joined the LISC camp! well, this is my first time joining the LISC camp.. simply because.. i didn't feel too... compatible... with this kind of thing.. (N.B: LISC is a camp for charismatic catholics.. so... yea.. it's charismatic) but after i joined it, hmm... i think it's quite ok.. i need a faith-refreshment though.. so, i think my spiritual dryness is quite satisfied afterwards. i won't say much 'bout this.. too many controversy

4. yesterday! ascension day! it's weird that... it's not even a holiday here in singapore! really really.... weird.. haha.. i think, that's why not many of us remembered that yesterday was ascension day (including myself *cough cough, but luckily my friends reminded me beforehand). back there in jakarta? it was a holiday, from thursday all the way to sunday... my my... lovely... i went to st. mary of the angels yesterday. i always liked that church. although it's not an old-type-of-a-catholic-church, but i feel it has a very nice ambience. with water flowing in the middle, and dim lights.. it's nice to reflect upon ourselves.

5. more on yesterday... watched the result for american idol... i dropped my jaw when they said melinda is going home! DAMN! can't believe it! the best singer in the contest! my goodness.... this one dropped my mood like crazy...

6. today.. my friend went to germany! oh my.. so nice le! she went early this morning (i mean...really EARLY.. 3 AM???). i hope she'll be fine.
N.B: mi, germany sausage is the best i heard!

7. today (again), is a freedom day to all indonesian 3rd-graders! last FINAL EXAM! i hope u guys do well! for those coming to singapore, woohooo! party time!

8. hm.. i just wish one thing... i hope this cold war ends soon! almost going mad here! (details? no... no... it's private...)

whew.. i know i'm not supposed to write this blog in points like that.. but... really want to say lots of things, but very few time...

aghhhhhhhhhhhh... i just wanna shout!!!

A Broken Wing..

if (today==monday)
{
printf("I only have 2 exams left");
printf("hooraahh!!");
printf("and both of them are next week's problem... having fun!");
}
return 0;

haha... so stupid.. finally i finished the computing exam.. blood has been shed.. tears has been dropped..
but after the exam finished... i feel.. i like this.. haha.. computing.. hmmm.. should i take another computing subject? i think it's quite fun!
making a language that a computer can understand... although not all human could... haha

anyway.. rubbish...

i was thinking of the song jordin sparks from american idol sung.. a broken wing.. it's not the sound that thrills me.. the lyrics are..
they say, melody is like seeing someone for the 1st time.. the physical attraction.. but as you know the person inside, that's the lyrics... the thing they are underneath.. (music and lyrics)
so, somehow, the lyrics are really cool.. it's about a woman keep striving for a dream..

..in a broken wing, she carried her dreams..
Martina McBride - A Broken Wing

sometimes, we think of a dream... we tried hard to get it.. try to fly with both wings.. but when something bad happened, a wing got broken. then, we stopped trying..
desperate, stress, anger.. that makes us never wanna try more..
we wanted to wait till the wings are healed, then try again.. but then.. the desperate, stress, and anger leaves the wound opened..

we need to strive to realize a dream.. imagine a world without any dream... what a blunt world it would've been.. no wishes, no passion, no new invention..

work hard to get your dream! don't let one or two failures makes you stop! Ganbattenee!!

Having Fun!

hm? yea... i know it's not the time for having fun.. it's exam period.. but still.. i have no mood in studying.. so, why not spending some time blogging, rather than i sleep all the time?

i'm halfway done through my exams this semester! yay! 3 to go! computing, MOM, and physics... goodness.. i wonder how well i do this semester...

anyway, wanna congratz the peepz back there, for finishing the national exams! woohoo.. betcha it's not that hard! (well, indonesian language might be a problem.. but still)
school exams still waiting though.. this is the main problem.. haha! goodluck all of u guys!

bought my tix back to jakarta already... 14 june.. can't waaiiitt!! too bad i can't go back earlier due to the exam i'll have... i want to go to the choir reunionn!! arghh!
geez... time really flows.. it's almost a year already... it seems like only a few months that i was standing in changi airport, looking at the new environment.. now, it's almost time to see a brand new batch standing there.. haha
i'm freshie no more! i'm a sophomoreee (well, almost...)

this exam period is extremely a fun-period for me... watching i-don't-know-how-many animes.. reading heaven-knows-how-many-chapters of mangas.. goodness... what AM I DOING??!!! isn't exam period supposed to be hectic, crazy, stressful, and depressing? what happened to my plan to mug? what happened with my plan to go to library and study?

can't wait for the american idol finale! at last sanjaya is out of the competition! awful...

A Mess

Goodness, what a mess my table is...

2 days from now is the start of exam period.. i'll have 2 exams on my first day...

yeah, it's math and accounting exams! what the f*** was i thinking when i did the subject planning???

anyway, what done is done.. what matter is how we deal with the present and the future.. haha.. finished 3 past year papers for maths, 2 for accounting, 2 for computing.. the other... let me think of it later...

Easter Day!

It's Easter Time! Time flows really fast. Lent was just like yesterday. 5 weeks of lent.. 1 week of passion sunday..
went to cathedral for holy thursday and good friday. it was really soothing being there. hearing the choir singing was just.. amazing. never really paid attention to these days back there in Jakarta. but here, it's different. i found peace and tranquil.. prayer, music, God.. it all blended to one..
went to st mary's for the easter vigil mass.. it was a truly amazing experience. not that i've never been there... not that the choir was better.. simply because there were 110 people waiting to be baptized. it was so beautiful. they were baptized, and when they came back, they're wearing white robes..

"Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow..."

they lit their candles, the lights were dimmed. it was such a breath-taking scene. they might feel anxious about the baptism. not to mention the muddy-colored water used... and even the cold church. but then, they're there.. rejoicing the same God I worshipped.

"..and you, tiny candles of the world.. are you able to shine the world when the sun is tired? are you able to give warmth to your surroundings?"

and so, the easter comes.. all christians across the world rejoices for the rise of Christ. May God bless us, and remind us of the beauty of the earth he created...

I know the picture is very blur.. but, that's the best i can take with my handphone.. haha. still, i find it beautiful...

It's weird..

this new chinese new year is quite weird.. i think i'm using a lot of my luck in this piggy year.. haha
let's see...
did quite well in effcomm...
